Forum Packaging has purchased two new hybrid cars – powered by its own solar farm.
The paper sack specialist has boosted its green credentials by taking delivery of one of its new Volvo XC90’s, with a second due to arrive later this year.
This follows a £230,000 investment in the solar farm last year, moving the company further towards environmental sustainability.
Now the Horncastle based company will use electricity generated from the solar farm to power the twin engine hybrid Volvos.
In total the company has now invested more than £350,000 in environmental technologies at the site.
Mark Spivey, Managing Director, said ‘It is very important for the business to develop its environmentally sustanability because it makes us more cost effective and minimises our impact on the planet. We are creating a legacy and level of sustainability for the business that is both attractive to our customers and lays down the foundations for another successful 25 years of manufacture.’
" A close working relationship with our customers allows us to develop a strong understanding of their business needs, so that we deliver cost effective packaging solutions. We back this up with consistent investment in product development, plant and people, to foster mutually beneficial and valuable long term business relationships. "
